summer style.

i'm in need of some summer clothes inspiration. here's what i've come up with so far.

from jcrew:
(can't you just imagine yourself sipping on a pink daiquiri wearing this little number on the beach?)

*************************************************
from anthropologie:
(what a cute little cover up...and the purse would be perfect to tote some foreign currency on a summer adventure-or to store sunscreen and a magazine!)

 ************************************************
from urban outfitters:
(i can't get enough yellow!!)

have you been hunting for summer clothes? what have you found?!

tick tock.

we've all heard the saying, "it's all about timing." my how true that is. it's amazing how timing plays such a huge role in life. i'm learning how important it is to be patient, wait things out, and slow down. what are your thoughts on timing? is timing the destroyer of all things (as i've grudgingly felt in the past) or is it just a saying to live by?

i just finished my family law final. i'm wiped out. i don't know how i'm supposed to pick myself up and start studying for another exam. sometimes, i just want to run away...far, far away, lay on a beach and read a good book. (i suppose i ought to be patient and wait for 10 days when i'll be on a beach in hawaii. ah, timing.)

bunny day.

happy easter!!

my parents came into town yesterday to pick up my little dog. (they're taking care of her this summer while i'm out of town.) it was so nice to see them!! C&i made them a yummy coconut chicken dinner, and then we just hung out, had some drinks and watched the NBA playoffs. they left early this morning. i miss my dog already!

today i'm going to spend easter with C's family. it will be a wonderful family filled weekend before finals week.

hope you have a great easter!!

it's trippy.

it's bitter cold in my house. i'm bundled up in a sweatshirt and under three layers of blankets to try to thaw my toes. how can it be so cold at this time of year? i'm ready for warm nights under a blanket of stars, candle light, good food, clinking wine glasses and giggles with friends.
i'm going to hawaii in less than 3 weeks. did i tell you that, dear readers? i'm ecstatic...haven't looked forward to something so exciting for as long as i can remember. i can't wait to wear my polka dot bikini, cover my feet in sand, and become "brown as a berry" (as my mom would say). it's been good motivation to hit they gym too. once-a-year vacations to sunny destinations should be mandatory.

then, when i get home, i'll have just a short week before i head over to india. india. india. i can't even explain the way i feel about this upcoming trip. it will be my second time there, but my first time in bangalore. i am anxious, and a little homesick already. i don't know how i'm going to survive there-alone. i mean, i've done it before, and i always meet new friends. but for some reason, this trip feels different. or maybe it feels the same, it's just the anxiety tapping at my shoulders.

water for elephants.

i cannot WAIT to see water for elephants.
i read it in india a few years ago and devoured it.
it's such a great story.
and has reese witherspoon ever looked so beautiful?
the previews make me dream of another life.

rain rain rain.

C and i went to the last utah jazz home-game of the season against the denver nuggets. (jazz won!) when we walked out of the stadium we were all turned around and started walking in the wrong direction to find our car. all of a sudden we realized we were walking the wrong way...and at about that time, it started to rain. hard. we had to run between the raindrops. we were completely soaked through by the time we finally made it to the parking garage. it was maybe the most fun i've had all month.
someday hopes
tonight i'm going to the bayou for K's birthday. her birthday was actually last week, but i didn't really get to celebrate it in style because i was a little stressed out with school work. i'm so excited to see her and play!

hope you are having a great weekend!

if i.

oh internet. how you do me well. i love how you can miss a friend for years and years, then get reunited through facebook, or blogs, or whatever. check out my friend E's blog here. we were friends in good ol' lake stevens washington and have just lost touch throughout the years. now, i can feel like i know a little bit more about her life by following her blog. a similar thing happened a couple weeks ago. i got a facebook message from my old friend R who i've also known since elementary school. i think of her often, and come to find out, we're both interested in going into the field of human rights! incredible!

so...i'm re-posting this from E's blog. i love stuff like this.

If I were a...
If I were a month, I’d be June.
If I were a day of the week, I’d be Thursday.
If I were a time of day, I’d be 12 am.
If I were a planet, I’d be Venus.
If I were a sea animal, I’d be a manatee...because i think they're so cute...
If I were a direction, I’d be West.
If I were a piece of furniture, I’d be a side table.
If I were a liquid, I’d be lemonade.
If I were a gemstone, I’d be a topaz.
If I were a tree, I’d be a birch. They just remind me of childhood.
If I were a flower, I’d be a peony. they are so feminine.
If I were a kind of weather, I’d be 80 degrees and sunny, with a light breeze.
If I were a musical instrument, I’d be a cello.
If I were a color, I’d be turquoise.
If I were an emotion, I’d be....can i only choose one? (well...that's telling isn't it...)
If I were a fruit, I’d be a mango.
If I were a sound, I’d be the sound of waves at the lake.
If I were a car, I’d be a Ford.
If I were a food, I’d be cheese. (and then i'd gnaw on my cheese arm all day)
If I were a place, I’d be a theater.
If I were a material, I’d be cotton.
If I were a taste, I’d taste sweet and sour at the same time. like lemonade.
If I were a scent, I’d be ylang ylang.
If I were an animal, I’d be a chihuahua and be best friends with Tiff (my dog).
If I were an object, I’d be a blanket.
If I were a body part, I’d be lips.
If I were a facial expression, I’d be a yawn (haha, just kidding).
If I were a song, I’d be Breakable by Ingrid Michaelson (is that bad?)
If I were a pair of shoes, I’d be sparkly, round toed flats that look perfect with a skirt AND your favorite pair of jeans.

kiss kittens.

"I want people to know that almost everything that concerns them in their daily lives is of no consequence whatsoever. Nothing and nobody is really important, so people, realising that, should get on with their lives, go mad, take their clothes off, jump in the canal, jump into one of those supermarket trolleys, race 'round the supermarket and steal Mars bars and, y'know, kiss kittens and sit on the back of bread vans.
Whatever makes people happy they should just do it, 'cos time is a mere scratch and life is nothing"

Morrissey

the graduate.

via Bob Willouhby
have you seen "the graduate?" it is a classic. i saw if for the first time this year. ann bancroft is the epitome of sexy. it oozes from her pores. one of my favorite things about the movie is the clothing. it is perfection. if you haven't seen it-go rent it immediately.

april showers.

wouldn't it be adorable to make these for your neighborhood?

april. the beginning of spring. it was full of warmth. the kind that makes you linger a little longer when you're taking the dog out. and then the frigid cold rushed in. white flakes reminding us that it's not flip flop weather yet. it's got mood swings worse than a hormonal woman. C loves april. i don't think i do so much. the only thing i like about it is that my mum, my bestie, and my little dog were born in april. so, i guess it can't be all that bad.
